06/04/2004 - 11:08 a.m. So last evening I am sitting on my couch and watching TV. Commercials come on, as they too often do, and it just so happened that one of them was the one for joining the Special Forces. Now, I have several problems with that commercial, and watching it makes me very angry. First of those problems is that it has to do with things military, and I am feeling more and more hate towards those with each passing day. I know that to some this comes as quite a bit of a shock, for did I not hate the military already? Well, I did, and then I decided not to, and now I am realizing that I do and can't do much to stop it. It is a hate similar to that some feel towards their school. In that school, there are doubtlessly some people whom you love and want all the best for, and then there are some whom you despise. When it comes down to it, in that school, it is not the general population you hate. It is the way the school is run, the people in charge of it and the goals they have set for the students. It is everything that school stands for, and every negative way in which it has affected your life. It is that kind of hate I feel towards the military. My second problem is that the commercial starts off as a video game commercial, and a video game which I might enjoy playing. And then you get to the part about joining the Special Forces, and it just ruins it. I mean, seriously. Don't play with me like that. Next comes the content of the commercial. While it was a video game, it was all good. When it becomes a "real life" situation, it just sucks. Many people may not realize this, but lying there for twelve days, though fun in a video game, would totally suck in life. Can you imagine it? Do you think it's exciting? If you do, you are an idiot. You see, while in a video game twelve days go by in a matter of few excitement packed minutes, in a real life situation they go by like twelve very long days. And by day two, you probably don't want to be there anymore. And then there is the whole matter of no food for a week. Hey, that's a great way to treat your people, military. That's a great promise to make to potential recruits. We won't feed you for weeks at a time; now come join us. And then there is also the whole matter of going to the bathroom. Can you imagine? You are lying there, it's day whatever, and all of a sudden you've gotta go. You've really gotta go. You gotta go right now. What do you do? It all goes back to that video game thing. In a game, your character doesn't need to worry about things like body waste excrement. Unfortunately, you do. And so on and so on. In conclusion, that commercial sucks. Room mate - 10/27/2005
