11/13/2003 - 12:53 p.m. So, yesterday, I'm sitting around in the UC, and I'm going to check my email, when something on the university's homepage catches my eye. What is it, you ask? It is nothing other than the "high wind" alert. Haha, I think to myself, High Wind alert! Hahaha, who could take that seriously? And indeed, though there was wind yesterday, high wind, in fact, compared to what I am used to, it truly wasn't bad. Nothing to be alerted by. It was also in the 60's yesterday, and so we got nothing more than some warm rain and high winds. It was beautiful, there were rivers of rain on the pavement, and the leaves were dancing in the air. This morning the ground was covered in snow. Ah, I thought to myself, snow. I like snow. Still, I did get all bundled up in my coat, gloves, scarf (it's the first time since I moved from the old country that I've worn a scarf), hat, and, of course, my regular clothes underneath. I felt rather silly, but better be safe than sorry, and from the stories I've heard winters here are cold. I stepped outside, bundled up, and expecting nothing. What I got was a lesson in what high winds are. My face burned. While I was walking to class, the wind was against me, and it was a struggle just to walk. Luckily, I chose not to go by the pond, for I would have probably been blown into it if I had. On the way back, the wind was at my back. Now, you might think that this is a good thing, but when the sidewalk is covered with ice and you literaly can not stop walking no matter how hard you try because the wind is pushing you so hard, you change your mind about that. And if you think I'm making it up about not being able to stop, you're absolutely wrong. I mean every word of it. In fact, chances are, if you did stop and tried to stand still, the wind would probably push you over and you'd be on the ground crying. So there. Anyways, I like it. I like the wind. ** ** I like drawing female models better than male models. I like it even more when the female models shave the places they are supposed to (legs and armpits) and not everything else. So, our first model was a girl, and she was tall and skinny and very shy. Our second model was also a girl and she was well proportioned and did some interesting poses. Of all our models, I like her the best. The funny thing about her (well, it's not really about her) is that I saw her the other day in the cafe eating, and I was looking at her thinking, She looks so familiar, but who is she? And I felt so bad for not being able to remember her name, or even where I knew her from. And then yesterday, on my way to Drawing class, it just hit me that she was our model. It was an odd feeling, knowing that I'd seen her naked only a few days back. Or third model was a fat guy, and everyone in the class was amazed at how small he was. And when I say small, I mean miniscule. And by that, I mean that I could see every small scar on the legs of one of our girl models, but no one knew whether he was circumsized or not. Oh, and fat guys are disgusting. Our fourth model was an old wrinkly hairy guy. You could see that there was a time in his life when he used to work out, as in work out twice a day to the point where every girl he walked by would go "oh sir, you work out twice a day don't you, giggle giggle giggle" and he'd just chuckle and go on working out. And then he quit. And so, while you can still see the muscles, on a lot of the side views he looked pregnant, more than anything else. Pregnant, wrinkly, and hairy. Really hairy. Shoulders down, everything was covered in a thick layer of hair. Hairy guys are also disgusting. I hope never to have to see another fat or hairy naked guy in my life. Ever. Our last model was a girl who shaved everything but the areas that girls normally shave. For most of her poses she just stood there, and for a lot of them she moved. In the middle of the pose. So, I have her arms down perfect, and she moves them! How awful! Now, I don't know how many of you people reading this know how aggrivating this is, but it is seriously one of the worst things to have done to you when you are drawing a model. Seriously, if I were paying her, she'd be fired for just moving so much. Ugh! Anyways, those were our models. Next week we move on to something non human to draw, and I can't tell you how happy I am to be sure of the fact that I will not have to be looking at any more naked ugly men. It's wonderful.
